Description: Shows main railroad lines (as opposed to small spurs or every track in a rail yard). Important for land base because of property ownership pattern and potential for easements. The symbol was created from the railroad symbol in the esri.style file by changing the color to 50% gray and setting the line and hash line widths to 1.2 points. This symbol is more consistent with the look of the map at the larger scales where more polygons are used to represent features—making thin lines look insubstantial and graphically out of place.
