Type: Feature Layer

Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolyline

Description: Street centerlines from St. Lucie County. ESRI edited the geometry of these features to correct features that did not follow the center of the road or even intersected parcels. ESRI also added the Map_Label field and the Carto_Sym field. The latter provides a functional class to symbolize the road features, based on width. By symbolizing the roads with white—they become part of the background of the map-versus gray or black which forces them into the foreground—the point of this map is the infrastructure information displayed on top of the land base information. Only the major streets (one of the functional classes) are labeled at this scale—since there were only two highways (I-95 and US 1), it was faster/easier to create graphics than to set up labeling rules.
